Gender Transitioning
Being transgender is difficult and there is no “right” way to transition. There can be a wrong way. That is jumping into transitioning without self reflection. Everyone has a unique process that come along with transitioning. It is important to be self reflective and informed about the Harry Benjamin Standards of Care. These standards are developed by WPATH (World Professional Association of Transgender Health). It is important to reflect on these areas before making permanent physical changes to one’s body. Your transition is not a process that happens over night. But with guidance and self reflection one can make the best decisions about how transition works best for them.
Your gender identity issues can look like other mental health issues, like depression and anxiety. You can work with an LGBT therapist to make sure that other mental health issues are addressed along with gender dysphoria issues.
You will need to pair with a counselor that can help you though the transition process. Orlando Counseling & Therapy Group is just the place to develop a relationship with that Licensed Mental Health Counselor. Because our therapists are well informed about the Harry Benjamin Standards. We also have over a decade of combined experience helping individuals transition.
